Plastic Surgery is the surgical specialty concerned with the correction of
abnormalities and defects of the skin and underlying body structures, which
result from accidents, disease, or birth defects. It includes aesthetic, or
cosmetic surgery, to correct or re-contour facial and bodily features not
pleasing to the patient. The word "plastic" comes from the Greek word
"plastikos" meaning to shape or form, and does not refer to the
synthetic plastic material which is sometimes used. Plastic and reconstructive
surgery includes:
(1) surgical treatment of the hand
(2) correction of many birth abnormalities including cleft lip and palate
(3) reconstruction of defects resulting from trauma or cancer
(4) aesthetic surgery of the face, breast, trunk, and other body parts
(5) treatment of cancer of the skin and of the head and neck
(6) treatment of burns.

Our office is open to serve you by appointment only. Please phone in advance to make your appointment; if you are unable to keep this appointment, notify us as soon as possible. This courtesy allows us to be of service to other patients during that time. When you make your initial appointment, one of the medical staff will ask the reason for your visit so that adequate time is allotted for your appointment. Emergencies occasionally occur which may delay your being seen; we will notify if there is likely to be a serious delay.
If you call with an urgent problem during office hours, the office personnel will either advise you or ask the doctor to return your call. You will be told exactly when to expect the doctor's call. If you have a problem that needs prompt examination, you will be given a specific time in that day's appointment schedule. Emergency calls after hours will be forwarded by the Answering Service to the doctor for his prompt attention. Extreme emergency care should be sought at the hospital emergency room.
